This course is designed for tactical teams or specialized units that regularly conduct tactical training. It will provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to create a comprehensive training platform to include:

-Training Needs Assessment

-Lesson Plans

-Safety Plans

-Training Safety Officer Program

-Training After Action Reports

-POST SWAT Operational Guidelines and Standardized Training Recommendations

Students will perform several group exercises and receive sample forms capable of agency personalization.

COURSE INSTRUCTORS: Commander Mat Sorenson from the Santa Ana Police Department and Sergeant Mike Short from the Visalia Police Department are tenured SWAT leaders who possess a unique blend of personal and professional experience related to tactical training that will benefit the development or expansion of a training program conducted in a safe and effective manner.

STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING: Students should bring a laptop computer as course materials are supplied electronically. We recommend students bring a sample of their department’s training needs assessments, lesson plans, safety plans, and training after-action reports, if available. No tactical equipment is required for this course.
